Connecticut's tourism office publishes the Sundae Drives Ice Cream Trail, the state's official route for eastern Connecticut. The official Stasht Connecticut Ice Cream Trail is different: two road trips built from ice cream shops real Stasht users saved, then checked against each shop's current official hours and details. Here, "official" means the route Stasht stands behind, not a designation from Connecticut. One route runs through southwest Connecticut, from Wilton down to the Milford coast and back up toward Newtown. The other follows the Lower Connecticut River from Chester out to Mystic. Each route has six stops, and you are not meant to do all six in a sitting. Pick two or three that fit where you already are, and keep the rest for another weekend.
Hours below were checked August 3, 2026. Shop hours can change without much warning, so recheck the same day you go, especially for Plasko's, Honeycone, Gumdrops & Lollipops, and Mystic Drawbridge.
A note on the order: the routes are sequenced so you keep heading one general direction instead of crossing the region twice. Check live routing and traffic before you set out.
Route 1: Southwest Connecticut (6 stops, pick 2 or 3)
This one runs roughly south from Wilton to the Milford coast, then back inland through Trumbull and Shelton and up to Newtown. Two or three of these make a good afternoon.

1. Heibeck's Stand, Wilton
Heibeck's Stand is at 951 Danbury Rd in Wilton and runs spring through fall. Its official site lists summer hours of 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. It's a seasonal stand, so hours are weather-sensitive. If the forecast turns, check before you drive out.
2. MOMU, Westport
MOMU is at 575 Riverside Ave in Westport. Its official page lists hours of 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Worth knowing about that later weekday open time if you're passing through around lunch.
3. Walnut Beach Creamery, Milford
Walnut Beach Creamery is at 17 Broadway in Milford, right by Walnut Beach. Its hours-and-location page lists summer hours of noon to 10 p.m. daily, but recheck before visiting. That page also has parking guidance worth reading first.
4. Plasko's Farm Creamery & Cafe, Trumbull
Plasko's Farm Creamery & Cafe is at 670 Daniels Farm Rd in Trumbull. Its official hours page conflicts with itself: the detailed schedule and FAQ list daily hours of noon to 9 p.m., while the page summary says noon to 8 p.m. If you're arriving after 8, confirm the same day. It's a farm and cafe, so it's more than a scoop window. One saved visit covers the ice cream along with fresh pastries and coffee on the same stop.
5. The Ice Cream Shoppe, Shelton
The Ice Cream Shoppe is at 59 Bridgeport Ave in Shelton. Its official info page lists live weekly hours of 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It's family-owned and makes its ice cream in house, with more than 30 flavors a day, plus sundaes and take-home treats.
6. Ferris Acres Creamery, Newtown
Ferris Acres Creamery is at 144 Sugar St in Newtown, a working farm creamery with flavors that rotate day to day. Its official site lists hours of 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. It's seasonal and closes for the year in late October, so it's a summer-into-fall stop. One note if allergies are a concern for your group: the creamery says it is not a nut-free facility and cross-contact is possible, so ask at the counter.
Route 2: Lower Connecticut River to Mystic (6 stops, pick 2 or 3)
This one follows the Lower Connecticut River and the shoreline east: Chester down to Old Saybrook, then along the coast through Niantic, Waterford, and New London, and out to Mystic. Same idea as the first route. Pick two or three, and check live routing and traffic, especially in and out of Mystic on summer weekends.

1. Honeycone Craft Ice Cream, Chester
Honeycone Craft Ice Cream is at 29 Main St in Chester. Heads up on the hours here: the shop's website lists conflicting times in its header and footer, so don't rely on it alone. As of August 3, 2026, the business's Google profile showed the current schedule: closed Monday, 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Because the website disagrees, confirm the same day you go.
2. Sweet Luna's Frozen Desserts & Bubble Tea, Old Saybrook
Sweet Luna's is at 139 Main St in Old Saybrook, open daily 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. per its official site. It's broader than a hard-serve shop: frozen yogurt, sorbet, gelato, and bubble tea. A good stop when your group wants options beyond a scoop.
3. Gumdrops & Lollipops, Niantic
Gumdrops & Lollipops is at 334 Main St in Niantic. Its official site consistently lists daily hours of 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. As of August 3, 2026, its Google profile still showed 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The site's 11-to-9 is the newer listing, but if you're arriving after 8, confirm the same day. The shop's site also notes the scoop counter is cash only, so bring some.
4. Cowlick's Creamery, Waterford
Cowlick's Creamery is at 521 Boston Post Rd in Waterford. Its official site and current ordering schedule list daily hours of noon to 9 p.m. Recheck before you drive.
5. Michael's Dairy Bar, New London
Michael's Dairy Bar is at 629 Montauk Ave in New London, open daily noon to 9 p.m. from April 1 through October 30 per its official site. It's a seasonal stop, so it's on the list through the end of October.
6. Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream, Mystic
Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream downtown is at 2 W Main St in Mystic. It's open year-round, seven days a week, and its official site points to its Google profile for current hours: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
One thing to know before you plug in an address. The same shop also runs a newer Old Mystic General Store at 47 Main St, and it keeps different hours: Thursday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed Monday through Wednesday. If you want the downtown ice cream window, use the 2 W Main St location.

Southwest Connecticut:

You don't need all 12. Pick the two or three stops that line up with where you already are, save them somewhere you'll actually check, and confirm hours the morning you go. That's the whole trick with seasonal shops: they are also the most likely to have quietly changed their hours since you looked.
